Premier League star to be moved on to make room for Mbappe?
Monday, 26 June 2017
With the transfer window approaching, there will be many exits and arrivals among Europe's elite clubs, and a few managers are doing all they can to land AS Monaco starlet, Kylian Mbappe.
The France international is now one of the world's hottest properties in the transfer market following a superb breakthrough season in which he fired the Monte Carlo side to the Ligue 1 and Champions League titles. He netted 15 goals and registered eight assists in the league, and such numbers have naturally alerted bigger sides around the continent.
The fee required to land Mbappe will reportedly be in excess of £100 million which means that even the richest sides may need to move some funds around and offload players before they can put together the relevant financial package.
However, according to The Express, Liverpool are willing to let their most important player, Philippe Countinho, leave for Barcelona for £79 million in order to fund their pursuit of the 18-year-old forward.
The Brazilian international has continually claimed he sees his immediate future at Anfield, but if Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have their hearts set on Mbappe then it may be taken out of his hands.
The ideal scenario for the Reds would be to have Mbappe and Coutinho link-up with Mohamed Salah in what would be a devastating forward line, but that seems unlikely at this point.
Whether the Monaco man would even wish to move to Liverpool is an entirely different question.
