Arsene Wenger has reportedly contacted Kylian Mbappe directly over the phone to act as a mentor and to also discuss a potential transfer to Arsenal this summer, according to L'Equipe.

The Monaco forward is one of the most sought-after transfer properties in the world currently following a blistering season with the French club, and Wenger has called him to discuss his future plans and to try and convince him to move to the Emirates.

Mbappe apparently is keen on a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona in the future, but would potentially move to the Gunners as a stepping stone before transferring to one of the Clasico outfits.

A source close to the player, said:

“Either he will go to a stepping-stone club, or directly to a great club.

“But his aim is very clear: to sign for one of the two biggest clubs in the world, they are Real Madrid or Barcelona for him, before reaching the age of 22.”
