Carrick: Ronaldo is a joy
Saturday, 24 June 2017The Portuguese superstar is currently with Portugal at the Confederations Cup, but speculation continues to mount that he may leave Real Madrid for Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window...
Michael Carrick has confessed that he loved playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo during their time at Manchester United together, but remained tight-lipped on reports that CR7 could make an incredible return to Old Trafford.
The Real Madrid man is apparently unsettled in the Spanish capital due to the media scrutiny which has dogged him over the past few weeks in regards to alleged unpaid tax payments between 2011 and 2014. The Red Devils, along with Paris Saint-Germain, have emerged as favourites for his signature, and Carrick was full of praise for his former team-mate.
"Of course, I was lucky enough to play with him. It was just a joy to work so close to him and see how he plays," the Englishman recently told reporters.
"You don't need me to say, everyone knows what type of a player he is and how good he is and what a career he's had."
Naturally, the questions posed to Carrick eventually got on to the subject of Ronaldo's mooted return to the Premier League, but the 35-year-old didn't want to elaborate too much on something that is "not his business".
"It's not for me to get involved in whether he comes to Manchester United, whether he leaves Madrid or not, that's not my business at this moment in time."
