Kylian Mbappe could yet sign for Arsenal this summer due to the presence of Arsene Wenger, according to one of the young star's closest relatives.

Real Madrid were thought to be in pole position to sign the Monaco star, with him reportedly telling representatives of his club that he would either be going to Spain or staying in Monte Carlo after the transfer window, but a London adventure may not be off the cards.

Speaking to French media outflet Le Parisien, the relative informed them: 

“Wenger is a great man. If Kylian signs for Arsenal tomorrow, it will be for him.

“He knows how to shape young players and especially the former strikers of the French team, Thierry Henry and Nicolas Anelka."

For the first time in his tenure as boss, the Gunners failed to make it to the Champions League group stage, instead dropping into the Europa League, which has cast doubt on the future of star players such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. However, Mbappe's family member confirmed that this would not be an issue for the moment for the French starlet, saying:

“The Europa League is not an obstacle in itself.”
