BREAKING: Perez to hold crisis talks with Ronaldo

BREAKING: Perez to hold crisis talks with Ronaldo

Thuesday, 20 June 2017

The Portuguese superstar has been widely tipped to find a new club this summer after reportedly becoming unhappy in Spain, but the Real Madrid chairman has insisted that he still plans to work things out with his star player...

Florentino Perez will sit down for a crunch meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo to discuss his Blancos future as soon as the Confederations Cup in Russia is finished.

The Real Madrid chairman, who was re-elected on Monday without any other meaningful candidates standing, spoke to the media this week and assured fans of the club that no decision has been made that would lead to CR7 leaving the Spanish capital.

"Obviously something has happened, something has affected him, his credibility," Perez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. "I'm sure he will tell us and we will see. The only thing I can say is Cristiano Ronaldo is a Real Madrid player"

"It's no coincidence that he's in a very important tournament, the Confederations Cup. It hasn't finished yet and I don't want to disturb the Portuguese team."

The former Manchester United star has apparently became disillusioned with life in Madrid after reports surfaced that he was being investigated by Spanish authorities for alleged unpaid tax payments between 2011 and 2014. This is coupled with the fact he is, incredibly, not always given the best reception from his own fans at the Santiago Bernabeu, with some sections of the support still booing him on occasion. The Blancos chairman has insisted that he will always stand with his player for support, however.

"I must defend him at all costs, both as a player and as a person. What I will say is that everyone must fulfil their tax obligations. I have no doubt that Cristiano will be able to defend himself. What they have told me is that he has the same financial arrangements as he had in England, where he had no problems."

Cristiano has been tipped to move back to Manchester United or perhaps make the move to the United States and Major League Soccer, but for the moment he remains focused on Confederations Cup action with Portugal.

I did already.
