Real Madrid players confident CR7 will stay
Friday, 14 July 2017Since the end of the last campiagn, rumours have been circulating that the Ballon d'Or winner could be set to leave Los Blancos after becoming unhappy with life in the Spanish capital, but after recently claiming La Liga and the Champions League, his team-mates believe he will still be at Santiago Bernabeu beyond the summer...
Cristiano Ronaldo's team-mates at Real Madrid are confident the 32-year-old will still feature in the famous white kit at the start of the season in August, according to Spanish newspaper, Marca.
When Ronaldo met up with the Portugal squad for the Confederation Cup in Russia, reports came streaming out of the camp of the European Champions that he had informed Madrid that he was leaving and that he had no intention of reversing his decision.
The Portuguese's frustration has apparently been catalysed by the media scrutiny surrounding allegations of unpaid tax payments from the Spanish authorities, who claim that he still owes money with regards to image rights income. He believes that, with the dedication and commitment he has gave to Real Madrid, as well as the plethora of trophies, the club should be doing more to protect and support him through this difficult time.
However, Marca claims that the whole situation has been blown out of proportion and that there is very little expectancy among the Blancos players that their talisman will leave in this transfer window. The players apparently think that any statements made from Ronaldo were in the heat of the moment and that he has made similar promises in the past only to eventually stay in the capital of Spain and continue to succeed.
There is one issue that is certain though. With James Rodriguez, Pepe, and Fabio Coentrao now having left Real Madrid, the only friend left for Ronaldo is apparently Marcelo, with CR7 reportedly upset that his group of allies is quickly diminishing.
