Bayern Munich play down Ronaldo links
Thursday, 13 July 2017If recent reports are to be believed, the former Manchester United star could be set to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window after winning the league and Champions League with Los Blancos, and despite plenty of destinations being mentioned, the German giants have distanced themselves from a move...
Bayern Munich have absolutely no intention of making a swoop for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the chairman of the Bundesliga outfit, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
CR7 is currently unhappy in the Spanish capital after growing increasingly frustrated with the media scrutiny surrounding his alleged tax avoidance allegations, and reportedly informed Florentino Perez earlier in the summer that it would be his intention to leave the club.
Naturally, there are plenty of suitors out there for the Ballon d'Or winner, with the Chinese Super League, Major League Soccer in the United States, Paris Saint-Germain, and former club Manchester United having all registered their interest in making a world-record bid.
Bayern have also been mentioned in the conversation, but Rummenigge has been quick to rubbish claims that the German champions were preparing a bid.
"We're used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows," the 61-year-old told the Bayern website.
"Normally we don't comment on rumours, but in this case, we would like to make our position on Cristiano Ronaldo absolutely clear: This rumour is completely unfounded and must be consigned to the realms of fantasy."
